We like to walk our dogs for their health and ours. As members of our family, our dogs' health is important to us so that's why we choose healthy dog foods for them to eat. We have two dogs, our Black Lab Mix, Cooper, and our Australian Shepherd, Thor. Thor is a smaller dog so we feed him and Cooper the same food. We picked up Beneful Incredibites Chicken dog food at Target and found that our dogs really love it!

Target is our go-to retailer to make our dog look and feel dapper as well as a place where we can get all the items to fulfill our pet's needs, including Beneful. I spend alot of time with Cooper out in our backyard so he is very much a part of the family. He likes to check out my garden, where I grow tomatoes, onions, peppers, tomatillos, and other vegetables for cooking. I also grow strawberries , raspberries, boysenberries, and blackberries. Whether it's berries or tomatoes, when the harvest is light, I usually toss a few berries or tomatoes to Cooper. He loves fresh fruit and vegetables! If there is a ripe berry on the outside of the fence, he will sniff it out and eat it. He also does drive-bys in the garden, where he runs around really fast so I can't catch him and then he tries to bite at ripe fruits and vegetables as he runs by. As he gets older, his aim is really bad and I have found quite a few green berries and tomatoes on the ground. He's definitely likes gardening, as you can see from the mud on his nose in this video:

It's important to us that we keep our dogs healthy and walks are an essential part of our routine with them. Our dogs are always bursting with energy when we're ready to go on a walk and sometimes, it's a little challenging to hold on to them. I've used puffy paint in the past to create “grips” on socks and thought we could totally apply this same technique to a dog collar and leash. Here's how to create a personalized DIY dog collar and leash using puffy paint! We added our dog's name, some doodles, and our phone number, just in case he gets away from us when we're out walking.

Here's a look at the detail on the collar and the leash. You can use whatever colors of puffy paint you like to create a custom dog collar and leash for your pet.

We added grips to the loop on the leash by adding lines of puffy paint. We also added our dog's name and our phone number to the leash, just in case we get separated while out on a walk. These projects are both super simple to make in one afternoon. Here's how:

SUPPLIES:

  • Dog Collar
  • Dog Leash
  • Puffy Paint

Cooper seems pretty happy with his new collar!

Are you ready for a walk? We keep Cooper healthy with regular walks but we also use Beneful as a solid part of his diet. Beneful Incredibites Chicken is made with real meat accented with carrots, sweet potatoes & spinach. Cooper loves the taste of the food and for us, we know he is getting a balanced, nutritious meal every time. He literally digs in when we feed him – look at all those pieces of Beneful that flew out of the dish when he started chowing down! Here's Katie, getting ready to walk Cooper down the street to our community mailbox:
