Pretty Paper Butterfly Plant Stakes

Dress up a potted plant or a vase of flowers with these fun, easy to make butterfly plant stakes! You can create these with supplies you probably have around the house, such as bamboo skewers and acrylic craft paint. I used the Sizzix eclips2 DIY Cutting System to cut out the butterflies but if you don't have an electronic cutting system, you can cut them out by hand or use a traditional die like this Sizzix Butterfly Die Set.

Here's how to make pretty paper butterfly plant stakes to dress up your home and garden for Spring:

I used old, I mean really OLD paper from my stash to make this project. Bet you didn't know it was old paper, right? This falls right in line with my philosophy to MAKE-ENJOY-BUY (maybe)-REPEAT that I am following this year. We've got to use the old stash in order to make room for new things. And in using the old stash, why not enjoy it a little? I mean there is a reason I hung on to this paper for 3, 4, or more years. It's pretty! This project is a great way to enjoy the pretty paper and feel good about using things up. I used the plant stakes inside of a rustic farmhouse plant box I created to make it festive for the upcoming Easter holiday and beyond into Spring.

  1. These are so beautiful! I love butterflies and plants, and this is a great way to combine the two! Also a great surprise treat to add to a houseplant or flower arrangement you might be giving to someone! Way better than those store-bought plastic signs!
