Best Free Coloring Book Pages
Not all coloring book pages or papers are created equal and quality matters with the supplies you will color them with. This post contains affiliate links.
This “hierarchy of needs” is a joke but it highlights some of the many materials you can color coloring books with. I don't advise coloring with actual wine but coloring while drinking wine, that should be ok. *wink wink *
Here are some of the supplies you'll need to do coloring books for grownups:
Coloring Books – these are some of my favorite and the most popular coloring books on the market right now.
- Zenspirations by Joanne Fink – if you like whimsical, hand lettered drawings, these books will fit the bill. There are also several faith-based books too (Christian, Judaica). Artist Joanne Fink leaves wide open areas in her coloring books to encourage you to pattern (draw designs) in these areas before coloring.
- Secret Garden: An Inky Treasure Hunt and Coloring Book
– intricate designs that are beautiful and complex. Hours of coloring are needed to compete each page but each piece can be framed as art when you are done.
- Adult Coloring Books: A Coloring Book for Adults Featuring Mandalas and Henna Inspired Flowers, Animals, and Paisley Patterns
– these books have a wide variety of easy to color images that you can color, pattern, or do both in!
- or FREE coloring pages you get online!! (I'll be sharing those on the next page!)
Colored Pencils – Prismacolor are the main pencils everyone raves about for coloring. They have a creamy consistency and are easy to blend. I really like that these come in a metal storage space that can sit on a book shelf beside your coloring books for storage.
Markers – Tombow Dual Brush Pens have two tips – a bullet tip for coloring small areas and drawing details and a brush tip for coloring large areas and for blending. these water based markers can blend with one another and be used with water for watercolor effects.
Crayons – you CAN use crayons but they just don't look as rich in color as markers and colored pencils
Watercolor – you'll need sturdy paper to handle all the water needed for watercolors but a cake watercolor palette should be just dandy. If you print your own coloring pages using a printer you can then choose to print on watercolor paper!
Printer – Print your own coloring book pages using your printer at home. You can print images in any size and on any paper you like! I recommend the HP Color Ink Jet Printer HP Envy 5660 with HP's Instant Ink program! Never run out of ink with this awesome auto-ship program that has saved me literally $100s on ink costs per year. Print coloring pages all day long and into the night and never worry about having to try to find ink when you run out. The printer will alert HP to automatically will ship new ink refills to you BEFORE you run out. No more runs to Walmart in the middle of the night, looking for ink reflls! Sign up for HP Instant Ink HERE.

Thanks for sharing these awesome resources! I have been wanting to try my hand at coloring as an adult and this is such an upgrade from stealing my kids coloring books! Thanks for sharing!!!

Hi Jennifer,
Love the links, many thanks for sharing!!!
You might also want to have a look at Hattifant’s coloring pages!
You can find coloring pages there which are suitable for many age groups. I also often try and combine difficulty levels in one project so that the moms and dads can enjoy the coloring & crafting as much as the little ones. Meaning they can create together…

Hey, great round-up. Thanks for including our site. There over 230 free patterns to choose from. Happy colouring!
I am so inspired by you, used to do watercolour, but surprised ‘there not that easy!’, and living in chronic pain and fatigue, have to pace myself! Love the Secret Garden(the smaller on eof course)
, but after hearing the issues, bought the biggeer/better paper one! That was a year ago..now there’s like 20 new artists in Indigo(book stores in Canada). Yours still sells best, but the Animal Kingdom(new) is selling well to..They owe it all to you, I think!
Thankyou so much for gathering this for us- I found alot of interesting drawings, books and supplies-again,Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Best Regards from Silya:)
