I am so excited you're here. Your kitchen is a place where people can find “Good Eats” too? I knew it!
Thank you for checking out this tutorial on how to make a GOOD EATS sign from a wood arrow for your kitchen. If you're like me, you've probably seen tons of wood arrow signs on Pinterest. They're easier to make than they look!
Let's make our own “Good Eats” Sign for the Kitchen using a wood arrow!!!
So fun, right?!  There are a few things you really need to know to make this rather simple project a TOTAL SUCCESS. And I am going to share them with you because I want your sign to turn out as magically perfect as I feel like my sign turned out.
Let's talk SUPPLIES.
To create this “Good Eats” Wood Arrow for your kitchen you'll need these supplies and here's why:
Ultra Matte Spray Paint – Spray paint is going to help this project come together really fast but you'll need a matte spray paint to make this sign have a vintage look and feel. I chose Design Master's UberMatte  Ultra Matte Color Finish in Mist (555). It goes on smooth, self levels, and has a gorgeous matte finish!
Acrylic Craft Paint – Choose a quality acrylic craft paint like Delta's Ceramcoat Select Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paint in Shadow Gray (04037). The satin finish of this paint will work well with the matte finish spray paint to keep with the vintage feel of this kitchen sign.
Wood Arrow – I love Walnut Hollow wood products because they are high quality and Made in this USA. Get this Arrow Sign in the shop at WalnutHollow.com.
Rubberstamp Letters – I have these alphabet rubber stamps in my stash for several years but you can find rubber or even acrylic stamps in large letters to use for this project. Try using a stencil if you cannot find stamps in a size or font you like.
Brushes – I recommend a foam stencil brush for applying paint to the stamps and the wood. If you don't have that, you can use a foam paint brush like I did to apply paint to the rubber stamp letters. For hand lettering, I recommend small round brushes like the PLAID FolkArt Gold Taklon Detail Brushes (#10/0, #3, #5). The pointed tip of these round detail brushes makes it easy to create brush style lettering with precision.
Sandpaper or a Sander – You'll want to sand the wood before painting to avoid getting splinters and ruining your brushes. If you want the sign to have a more vintage, distressed look, sand it after painting. Â You can use emery boards if you don't have sand paper. For some reason I have a PILE of emery boards but you can also get them cheap at the 99 cents store.
Varnish – Choose a good indoor varnish, like FolkArt Home Decor Varnish, for this project to protect it, especially if you plan on displaying it in the kitchen where it will be exposed to grease, dust, and water.
Staple Gun and Twine – This wood arrow does not come with any hangers. Use the staple gun to add a length of twine to the back that you can then hook onto a nail to hang on the wall.
Nail and Hammer – to mount the sign on the wall once you've finished creating it. You can mount it with screws too.
Once you have these supplies in order, it's time to make the sign!
Let's make this sign!

WOW, that was alot, right? It's actually a lot easier than it sounds to make this sign. I'll have a video up for this later this week on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL.
