If you've been searching for genius inspiration and smart ideas to organize your dream craft space, you've probably seen loads of IKEA furniture and storage solutions. But which ones are the BEST? And why do all the craft rooms have IKEA furniture instead of furniture from other stores? You're in the right place to get all of these answers as we take an in-depth look at 12 IKEA craft spaces and storage solutions to spark your organizing mojo.
IKEA is the first stop for designing a creative space you'll love
I've gathered the best ideas for creating a custom craft studio on an IKEA budget, no matter what kinds of crafts or art you make.
All of these ideas are organized based on the TOP needs I've heard from crafters and makers in my classes, courses, and our online community Best Craft Rooms.
As you scroll through this post, keep in mind:
- How much space you have
- Which tools you want out and ready to use all the time
- How you craft … do you craft by color or by project?
- Do you need space for friends or the kids?
I recommend jotting a few notes about what your dream space will look like before you go to IKEA.
The ONE thing you need before you go to IKEA
In the 16 years years I've had a craft space, IKEA has been my go-to source for craft room furniture and storage solutions.
My husband and I have put together more than our fair share of IKEA furniture in the quest for the perfect craft space. A few years ago he was so exhausted from assembling IKEA furniture that he tried to tell me I was disallowed from shopping at IKEA. I just laughed and laughed and laughed.
We're still married. And he's still putting together IKEA furniture!
In the years since I originally wrote this post, I've made many mistakes buying craft room storage, wasting loads of money on the WRONG things. Or worse, I've arrived at IKEA to discover they no longer carried the solution I was looking for.
That's why I created a FREE shopping list with the most up to date products from this year's IKEA catalog and showroom. Print this shopping list to take on your trip.

5 Reasons the best craft rooms start with IKEA furniture and storage accessories
Why IKEA? Let's dive in to the reasons IKEA is the top choice for craft room storage and studio furniture.
1. IKEA keeps prices low
Here's how IKEA keeps their prices budget-friendly:
- You save money by assembling things yourself.
- IKEA packs most items flat and un-assembled, saving money on shipping and warehouse space.
- The prices go down over time, as the cost of design and development is reduced the longer an item is selling in IKEA stores.
When I first bought a Billy bookcase almost 20 years ago, it was over $250! Now they're under $100 each, for the same exact bookcase.
2. Sleek Minimalist Design
The Scandinavian design of most IKEA furniture and storage solutions blends with almost every decor style, from modern to farmhouse. Many items are made to stack or interlock together to form many different combinations to fit any space.
3. Easy to clean
IKEA furniture and storage products are easy to clean and care for. Much of the IKEA furniture I recommend for craft rooms has a melamine finish that is easy to wipe clean.
4. Everything's customizable
You can mix and match table legs, add a motor to create an adjustable table, swap out baskets for bins in the bookcases … IKEA storage solutions are customizable with many options to fit your exact needs.
5. Plan your space … for free online!
IKEA has a free virtual planner online that you can use to plan your space and all the items that will go in it.
Use IKEA's free planning tools to design your craft room
Plan your exact space online before you buy anything in the store! There are several ways to use IKEA's free online planning tools but for craft rooms the most relevant tools are:
- Wall Storage Planner to plan a single wall
- 3D Room Planner to plan an entire room
How to use IKEA's wall storage planner:
- Measure your space (wall height and width)
- Go to IKEA's Planning Tools page
- Choose the planner for the storage system you like most
- Choose a room type to get ideas
- Choose one of the suggested combinations
- Or choose to “start from scratch”
- Drag the sides of the wall planner to match the dimensions of your space using the measurements in step 1. Drag the corners diagonally to represent diagonal walls in your space.
- Click the “NEXT” button to set the size of the wall system
- Choose the items to add to your design. Watch the total cost accumulate on the lower right corner as you add or remove items.
- Click “FINISH” to get the final plan.
This is what the plan will look like when you're finished:
If you want a shopping list with all of the items from your design, you need to request an access code. This process is cumbersome, which is why I created a shopping list you can download for free
.
How to use the IKEA design tool access code to view your shopping list:
- Pull up the IKEA.com site on your phone while you're in the store and enter the code
- Go to one of the kiosks in the IKEA store and enter the code
TIP: Click “buy online” to automatically add the items for your design to the shopping cart. You can then screenshot the cart with the list of items you need or copy and paste them into a notes tool, like Evernote, to access it from your phone in store.
How to use IKEA's 3D room planner:
- Measure your space (length, height, and width of the room)
- Go to IKEA's Planning Tools page
- Choose the room type
- Choose to “create new design” and enter your room dimensions
- Add IKEA furniture and accessories to the design:
- Choose from the drop down menus on the left column
- Or use the search bar on the top of the left column to find items to add to your room design
- Click “add” to add the items to the design. Drag or use the controls to move and rotate the items to place them where you'd like within the room
- Finish designing your room, using the view buttons to see a 3D representation of the design in your space
- Click on “item list/title price” to see the full shopping list and cost. Print the list and take it with you to IKEA.
Here's a mock up of my craft room space that I created with the tool:
What if I don't have an IKEA store near me?
- Order online. You can order online from IKEA's website if you don't live near an IKEA store: Order online at IKEA.com.
- Delivery. Plus, IKEA stores offer delivery options based on the distance from the closest IKEA retail store to your address.
But did you know that you can also order IKEA products from Amazon?!
Yes, you can! Many of the links I share here are to Amazon because you can get free Prime shipping on many Amazon items if you are a member of Amazon Prime. Try Prime's Discounted Monthly Offering
Here are some other places where you can find deals on IKEA furniture in your local area:
- CraigsList – or you can sell your used IKEA furniture there but beware, the value goes down as IKEA lowers their prices
- Facebook Marketplace – look for local people in your area selling their used IKEA furniture
- Habitat for Humanity ReStore
- Local thrift shops
- Garage sales and yard sales.
I sold one of my Expedit bookcases to a lady who drove over an hour to my house to get it because she lives 3 hours from the nearest IKEA. She found my yard sale through a Facebook group!
How to SAVE MONEY the next time you go to IKEA
There's a secret to almost never paying full-price at IKEA!
The FIRST Place You MUST Go in IKEA for the Best Deals
My first stop every time I go to IKEA is the As-Is section. The As-Is section includes:
- Store samples
- Returns of assembled furniture
- Discontinued items
- Store shelving and displays that IKEA doesn't make or offer for sale
- Damaged items
- Pieces of furniture
IKEA marks down all these items and gathers them in one handy corner of the store: the As-Is section.
Here's why the As-Is section is my first stop every time I go to IKEA:
- Assembled furniture. Pick up furniture that's already put together and ready to go in your craft space.
- Store displays. Want a HUGE table or a countertop? Get store displays that aren't usually sold in IKEA, for rock bottom prices.
- Huge markdowns. Save money buying floor samples, damaged items, discontinued items, or returns. You can often find the same items from the current IKEA catalog and showroom, but for up to 90% off!
- Discover new solutions. Find what the exact item you want (or an alternative solution) at an amazing price, without having to walk through the entire showroom.
I've scored many of the storage solutions in my craft room from As-Is.
This craft table is from IKEA's As-Is section. It's perfect for making small craft projects and scrapbook pages. And no one would even know it cost 60% less than the same table from the IKEA show room. Oh, that rug is also from the As-Is section!
Here's what you need to know about shopping IKEA's As-Is section:
- Most items are already assembled
- You can ask for tools at the return counter to help you take apart anything in the As-Is section so it will fit in your vehicle
- Some of the items are damaged or missing pieces. Since you're mega crafty, you can probably figure out a quick and easy fix.
- If the missing pieces are significant, ask the staff if they have any additional pieces in the back. Sometimes you can hack together a fix or even get the part you need for free.
- If the finish is damaged on the item, spray paint it!
- Come early. They put out the best stuff in the morning and by the afternoon it's usually picked over
- Start your shopping trip at As-Is. Then if you don't find anything that fits the bill, go up to the showroom and start shopping.
If you have a truck, the As-Is section can be your best friend for major deals at IKEA.
No truck? The returns desk will let you borrow tools to take your As-Is purchase apart. We went to IKEA for a bed for my college-age daughter's room and found the exact one we wanted in As-Is. It took about 30 minutes to get it apart but we did it with the tools from the returns section.
How to get to the IKEA As-Is Section
The As-Is Section is strategically placed at the end of the shopping route through IKEA. They want you to buy all the things in the showroom BEFORE you get to the As-Is section.
Here's the secret: By-pass the showroom and get straight to As-Is.
- Locate the checkstands
- Enter the warehouse area through one of the open checkstands
- Directly to the right or left of the checkstands is a big red sign indicating discounts or “As-Is”. That's where the deals are!
A Warning Before you shop in As-Is
Before you buy, beware that you cannot return As-Is items. I recently bought some plastic bins to use to organize my craft supply drawers. But when I got home, they didn't fit. At $0.50 each, I just donated them to a thrift shop.
Here are some As-Is shopping tips:
- Measure the space or drawers before you shop so you know if things will fit
- Have another use in mind so the whole purchase is not wasted if things don't work out once you get home
The Absolute Best IKEA Craft Rooms … Organized by Craft!
Now that you're committed to going to IKEA to build this amazing craft room, you need to figure out what furniture will work best for the kinds of creating you do.
I've gathered some of the most watched YouTube videos showing craft rooms organized with IKEA furniture. Then I went through the IKEA catalog and matched up the furniture in each video, making sure to give you the most up-to-date info on what current IKEA furniture pieces will help you get the look of each craft room.

1. BEST Craft Room for Crafting With Friends
If you have ever wished you could craft with your friends, you've gonna love this IKEA craft room idea from My Blue Bike 101.
Back in the day when we had local scrapbook stores, I remember gathering there every Friday night and sometimes on weekends for craft nights. And when I was a kid, I remember my grandma heading to the sewing machine store to take classes and meet other avid sewing fans.
But today, many of the local craft and scrapbook stores have closed and there's no place to gather and craft together. That is, unless you build a craft room for crafting with friends in your house!
The dream of a craft room for friends is super easy to build with IKEA's inexpensive tables.
How to make a giant cutting table with IKEA tables … that doubles as a space to craft with friends
My Blue Bike put together two glass top IKEA tables to make one gigantic craft table! A big table top like this is perfect for:
- sewing projects since it gives you a large solid space to spread out fabric and patterns to cut them out with precision.
- crafting with friends. This extra large table top is two glass IKEA tabletops, with added legs, pushed together to form one large table, hosting up to 4 friends for a craft night.
While you can't get these exact glass tables at IKEA any more, you can get these ones right now:
- NORDEN gate leg table: fold this table up to store and fold it out for a large craft space or use this version, that has wheels on the legs for easy rolling
- BEKANT desk – put two of these tables back to back. Add an optional motor like this to adjust the height of each table.
- GLASHOLM tabletop with gable legs – you can match up a glass IKEA table top with multiple types of legs, like Alex drawer units
Use a gateleg table instead of two large tables to get the tabletop space you need and room to move around when the tables are folded down.
For additional storage, get IKEA cabinets with glass doors like any of these:
- BRIMNES glass door cabinet
- BRUSALI high cabinet with doors
- HINDO shelf unit with cabinets
- HEMNES glass door cabinet with drawers
The units in the video look like they are from the HEMNES line of storage from IKEA.
2. BEST Die Cut Center
I recommend keeping the tools you want to use most out in the open on a tabletop or bar top. Here's why:
- Easy to access your tools
- Keeps them front of mind
- You don't have to put the tools away when you're done using them.
Scrapology has set up a die cutting station in the center of her room on top of two IKEA Alex drawer units back to back.
If you want a more cohesive look, add a table top to cover the gap between the Alex drawers.
You can also customize the look of the Alex drawers by adding a removable fabric decal from My Wonderful Walls, cut to fit your IKEA Alex unit perfectly. My friends at My Wonderful Walls are giving you 10% off with my code “SMART” at checkout. Get designs like these:
Add a few trays to the top of the Alex drawer units to hold small bits or projects you are currently working on.
Pick up these items at IKEA to create this die cut center in your space:
- 2 ALEX drawer units on casters
- SMULA tray
3. BEST Home Craft Space
If you don't have the luxury of a dedicated room for crafts, consider using a wall in your dining room or family room like Darlene did.
In this video, craft room owner Darlene describes how she sits in these IKEA Poang chairs and enjoys her lunch in this multi-functional craft space.
The IKEA Billy bookcases give lots of storage and display space.
- Billy bookcases are available in white, birch, this dark wood finish, and more so you can choose the finish that best matches your home
- If you're concerned about dust or kids touching your supplies, you can add these doors to the Billy bookcase system
Darlene also has IKEA ALEX drawer unit on casters she can move throughout her space to where she needs it. You can also remove the casters from the ALEX unit to stack them or place them under a table.
4. BEST Sewing Room and Scrapbook Room Combo
If you’ve been crafting for more than a couple of years, then you probably make more than one type of craft. This craft room doubles as a serious sewing room!
Even if you don't sew, this room has some great ideas for how to use your space for more than one major craft.
The foundation of Hooked on Applique's space are the ALEX line of drawers from IKEA. Here's what's in her space:
Sewing station 1 (sewing machine):
- ALEX drawer unit on casters
- LINNMON table
- ADILS legs
Sewing station 2 (embroidery machine and laptop):
- 2 ALEX drawer units
- LINNMON table top
By having the sewing machines out and ready on the tables at all times, she can get to sewing right away.
She's also added two ALEX drawer units with 9 drawers for additional storage. Customize the look of all three styles of ALEX drawers with removable fabric decal from My Wonderful Walls. Get 10% off with my code “SMART” at checkout!
5. BEST Stamp and Paint Storage Ideas
The easiest way to use your stamps and paints is to have them out in the open, where you can see them.
This room happens to be my craft room!
I arranged my paint bottles and rubber stamps on thin IKEA shelves for picture frames, called picture ledges, mounted on the walls of my craft space. These shelves are just deep enough for:
- Stamp blocks
- Bottles of craft paint
- Spray paint cans
- Rolls of ribbon
- Any other small items you want to arrange by type or color
The shallow shelves make it easy to see what you have and then select what you need for a project. I put the most used items on the bottom so I can grab them easily. Less frequently used items are on the top shelves. I can still see them so I won't forget about them but I need a step stool to reach them the one to two times a year I want to use them.
Over the years, I've moved these shelves to different walls in my craft room. Check out all the ways I've used them here:
You can find similar shallow frame shelves online here.
6. BEST Mobile Storage
Don't have a whole room to store your supplies in? You can organize your supplies on a small rolling RASKOG cart from IKEA!
IKEA's Raskog cart is a favorite among crafters and it's easy to see why:
- The cart rolls
- It's metal so it's easy to clean
- You can spray paint it any color
- It fits most bottles of craft supplies
- You can hook cups and baskets to the side for more storage
- Target utility cart (and they have a round one too!)
- Michael's Lexington Cart (made by Darice)
- Michael's Gramercy Cart (with pegboard side)
- We R Memory Keepers Cart
- SR Home & Office Cart from Costco
- Walmart cart
- Pier1 Imports cart
I have two of the original IKEA Raskog carts because I got them way back before the knock offs came onto the scene. In fact, I picked up my black Raskog, that I use in my laundry room for cleaning supplies, in the As-Is section of the store for only $18!
Yup, this is 100% why you need to make As-Is your first stop on every IKEA trip *wink wink*.
How to Organize your Raskog cart
You'll need these accessories to help organize the contents of the cart and create even more storage space:
- Hooks: use these to hang Cricut mats, plexi grid rulers, and more from the side of your Raskog
- S hooks: IKEA actually sells these under the SUNNERSTA line but you can also use S hooks like these from the hardware store
- Cups: SUNNERSTA containers are plastic cups with a lip that hooks over the side of the Raskog cart
- Shelves: SUNNERSTA shelves can be hooked to the side of the Raskog for additional storage, like a tray.
- Baskets: The OMAR clip on basket hooks onto the long sides of the Raskog cart to create storage off the side
- Dividers
- Metal cans: SOCKER plant pots are great for holding paint brushes and scissors in the top tier of the Raskog
- Jars: Ball jars or IKEA 365+ jars can be used to hold small items
- Trays: IKEA has lots of divided trays you can use in the top of the Raskog. Just be sure to measure before buying
- Magnetic canisters with lids: magnetic spice canisters are great for organizing small supplies and can be attached to the Raskog's sides

5 ways to use a Raskog cart in your craft room
Check out these 5 ideas for using a Raskog cart in your craft room:
1. Raskog for Yarn:
Sarah from Repeat Crafter Me set up an entire crochet cart using her Raskog – her tips are genius, especially the one about storing “works in progress” or projects she is currently working on.
2. Raskog for Scrapbooking:
Project Life is a modular scrapbooking system that uses cards and similar sized pieces of paper to scrapbook quickly. A Bowl Full of Lemons organized her Project Life supplies into Iris photo boxes and stored them vertically in her Raskog cart.
3. Raskog for Project Life and Planners
You can also organize your Project Life cards and scrapbooking supplies in the Raskog without any plastic containers. Laura Vorlicek shares how in this Instagram post:
4. Raskog for Cricut
Store all of your Cricut tools and supplies in a handy Raskog cart like DIBY Club did!
5. Raskog for Sewing
DIY Inspired uses her Raskog to store fabric and fabric scraps. Her sewing machine sits right on top! You can get a wood top for the cart from Michael's and set your sewing machine on top of that if it won't fit inside of the top bin on the cart.
Be sure to check out these 25+ ways to use a Raskog cart beyond the craft room for makeup, cleaning supplies, and even plants.
7. DIY Craft Armoire
Town and Country Living shares how to turn an IKEA computer cabinet into a shabby chic crafting heaven. Repurpose IKEA furniture meant for the closet, living room, and other areas of the home as craft supply storage.
- Use the keyboard tray as a slide out work surface
- Add shelves inside for more storage
- Use bins and boxes in the bottom section for storing larger items
- Close the doors when you're not working to hide the mess inside
Score marked down, slightly damaged pieces that are already assembled in the IKEA As-Is. The inside of this armoire is covered with paper that the owner decoupaged onto the wood. If the furniture is damaged and mark down, cover up the scuffs with some pretty paper and decoupage medium, like Mod Podge.
As of January 2019, IKEA doesn't have an armoire like this in their catalog or online. But I gathered some similar ideas for you here:
- PAX warddrobe system
- MICKE corner workstation
- VITTSJO shelving unit with laptop table
- HEMNES desk with add-on unit
8. Ultimate Ikea Craft Room with Lots of Craft Storage
DIY Inspired's Craft Room is so IKEA-licious, they should be featuring her space in their catalog!
Craft Supply Storage from IKEA
The focal point of her space is the large cube bookcase against the back wall of the room. The IKEA Expedit Unit she used is no longer available. A couple years ago IKEA released a new version of this shelving series called KALLAX, with all new accessories and colors.
Here are the current KALLAX configurations available:
- KALLAX workstation
- KALLAX 2×2
- KALLAX 1×4
- KALLAX 2×4
- KALLAX 3×4
- KALLAX 4×4
- KALLAX 5×5
Like the EXPEDIT line, you can purchase doors, dividers, and other items to customize your KALLAX shelves. Here are the current KALLAX accessories as of 2019:
- KALLAX insert with 2 drawers
- KALLAX shelf divider
- KALLAX wire basket
- KALLAX storage with compartments
- KALLAX rail with casters
- KALLAX hanging organizer
- KALLAX insert with door
- KALLAX glass top
Dinah went one step better by decoupaging maps onto the doors on her shelving unit to give it a custom feel.
DIY IKEA craft table
You can create a similar work desk by putting a LINNMON table top on two KALLAX 2×2 shelf units.
Check out the plethora of IKEA craft room ideas in Dinah's room tour here: DIY Inspired's Room Tour
9. Wall Storage – the Craft Room with the BEST Use of Wall Space
Create massive storage in a small craft space by using the walls like Rosehips and Petticoats did in her craft space.
Here's how to make the most of wall space above a desk:
- Add shelves up high with boxes for additional storage and framed prints for inspiration
- Added a rail with cups for tools and pens
- Add a wire with clips on it to hang inspiration and photos.
- Used metal strips with lidded magnetic cups on them to store small items vertically
- Add spice racks in white to hold rolls of ribbon and jars of embellishments and buttons
The shelves and storage look cohesive and melt into the wall because they're all white.
Many of the items used for this craft room wall are no longer available. I tracked down similar items in the current IKEA catalog and online to help you achieve a similar wall storage solution:
- 2 ALEX Drawers Units – these support the table top. Customize them from basic white in 10 minutes with this! (use code SMART for 10% off)
- 1 LINNMON white tabletop – lay this table top across the two ALEX drawer units to form the desk
- 4 BEKVAM spice racks, painted white – these hold jars, books, and so on against the wall
- 18 RAJTAN spice jars – these jars fit on the BEKVAM shelves and can used to store buttons and small embellishments
- 3 SUNNERSTA canisters – these plastic cups hang from the FINTORP rod and can be used to store tools like markers, paint brushes, and scissors
- FINTORP rod – hang this rod on the wall to hang storage containers from
- ALGOT shelving system – add shelving and pegboard to the wall using the adjustable ALGOT storage system of rails, baskets, and shelving

12. BEST Drawer Storage – Craft Room in a Real IKEA Show Room
IKEA knows that crafters are shopping their stores for craft organizing ideas. Our local IKEA created this craft room display in their showroom!
They even stage them with real craft supplies so we can see how IKEA products will work with our supplies. If you have the space for built-ins, you're gonna love this IKEA craft room featuring IKEA cabinetry!
This butcher block counter on adjustable metal table legs and the shelving unit are so smart. The sturdy wood surface is perfect for die cutting and stamping. The drawers have dividers in them making them incredibly functional for lots of small supplies and tools.

I love the idea of hanging the cups off of the Raskog cart! I’ve been considering one for a certain space in my craft room…now I want one even more!
The major elements in my craft room are Ikea tables and Alex drawer units. Can’t get enough of them!
http://www.scrapbookupdate.com/2013/12/30/organization-tour-of-my-scrap-room-2014/
Awesome! Thanks Nancy – I love the cups too and have them on my cart but it isn’t as pretty as Tammy’s is 😉
Wooohoo! SO happy to hear that! I would love to see photos once you get it all set up 🙂
I love IKEA stuff; I just wish my home was big enough for a real craft room!
Oooh, now I miss my old craft studio! Our last home had an entirely separate 600 sq ft studio with a kitchen and sauna/bathroom/shower; I could live out there and I had great space for all my crafty stuff. Now it shares an office with my social media biz desk and treadmill. So many cool ideas in the photos above!
Thank you for the awesome post! I’ve been on the hunt for craft room inspiration for our new house and this is perfect!
You gave me so many ideas! I am decorating my guest/craft room because the storage and organization was a hot mess.
Great craft rooms, I really need to work on mine! Thanks for the inspiration!
Debbie
I’ve been gathering ideas for a future craft room – how perfect that I came across this post today for ideas & inspiration!
Great post , I have my cart downstairs and keep a few basics to keep a a basics kit from running up and down the stairs to my (WAREHOUSE) scraproom, it is finally clean until the next time I need something… Ikea staples have been moved all over my house from my closed store — best was the the little desk that attaches to the expedit, it was damaged so they sent me a new one, so of course I repurposed it by adding legs and a middle brace to make one long desk table…. I am still watching the craft world so hard to step away, but I may have been cured …..
Great craft room inspiration! Thanks for sharing!
My craft room is in serious need of a makeover and you’ve got some great ideas here to inspire me!
Lots of great inspiration!
I love, love, love the Raskog cart, I bought mine last night!! I can’t wait to set it up 🙂 Can you please tell me the nme of the cups hanging on the side of the cart?? I woulda love to add them to my cart…thank you 🙂
I don’t think the cups have a name! I never seen a name on them in the store but they are 99 cents…
So many great ideas here! My craft space is filled with IKEA goodness!! Ikea is the BEST for craft organization!
Such great ideas. I wish we had an Ikea closer to us.
Loving all these ideas!!! I need to get my craft room organized!
Thanks for sharing so many inspiring ideas! We’re downsizing so I’m going to have to figure out which supplies get to come with and how the heck I’m going to organize it all.
So many great ideas! Thanks for the inspiration!
Honestly I don’t think I have a solution, my craft room is small. I have stuff for almost every craft that can be done. Wrapping paper, wall paper stored in a bucket, a bookcase with books about sewing, self improvement, cooking, helpful hints, declutering. History etc. I have nice porcelain dolls, old radios, a serger, a sewing machine. ribbons, fabric, lot of beads for making jewelry, ironing board, sewing notions, how do I arrange all this in a small room.
Pull everything out of the room and choose only the stuff you love the most and that is useful. You might need to store stuff outside of the room or get rid of some things. If the room has too much stuff, you can’t create anything in the room.
this is what I’m going to do in my scrapbooking room!.. I love this the wall is beautiful…one of my favorite things is the cups….I hope I can still find them
Thank you Tammy! I believe Ikea still carries those 🙂
I’m still trying to figure out how u hung them! I’m going to ikea this week.. ivsure hope I can find the same ones and the spice racks
Hi there! Was this from the IKEA Covina Store in California? I work as one of the interior designers at this store & I suspect that this is our room! 🙂 Glad to see that people like it
Yes it is from that store!!! It’s the Ikea I shop at 🙂
What’s the name of the little hanging cups?

Hi Jennifer I am looking for suggestions on my project. I am building a 10x12x17 craft shed. One 12′ wall will have a 9′ glass slider the other 12 walk will have a 55×30 window. I design jewelry with TONS of beads. I make my own holders using lots of paper and stamps. Known to sew a little and have an addiction to pens. I’m starting with a blank canvas would love suggestions.
Hi Evangeline, what kinds of suggestions are you looking for?
love all of these ideas! saddly, i saw this too late and didn’t get the mail with the ikea furniture. i wanted to ask:
which size of LINNMON desk is it?
and whether you bought the desk and the drawers as a set or separately?
thank you! 🙂
Hello, I did not buy that Ikea desk and drawers 🙂 You can get the guide by using the signup link in the blog post. It will be emailed to you 🙂
I would love to know the name of the drawers. I have been searching Ikea’s website for the piece and cannot find it.
Which drawers exactly? The white ones from the sewing room?
What is the lower unit that has the baskets in it. You mentioned you ordered the baskets online but didn’t say where you got the unit. Is it from IKEA as well? And what are the measurements?
Hello, We share the product info in the guide you can get from our email 🙂 Please sign up to get the guide! Measurements can be found on the websites for each product – you can click the links in the guide to see them.
Jennifer I love this idea & would love to get the guide please. Thanks
Looking at the photo of the Linnmon / Alex desk. Can you tell me if a 12×12 sheet of paper fit laying flat in the drawers? Ordering online and called to ask but they couldn’t tell me for sure.
Hello, I don’t have that desk. Check the site to see if they list the inner dimensions of the drawers? The wood is about 1/2″ thick.
I have been struggling with depression for many years. I have a craft room but being in a separate room makes me feel isolated and lonely. Despite my best efforts I always end up doing crafts while I sit in my living room watching tv. This has obviously greatly limited the crafts I can do and I always end up surrounded by stacks that are tipping over and makeshift storage. (I would send a pic if I knew how). Eventually I will overcome the issues that keep me from using my room, but I wonder if you have any advice for the meantime.
I hear you on feeling lonely – I do most of my crafts in front of the TV too 😉 I think one thing to do is one project at a time. It’s more work to get up and grab things and bring them back and forth but that will keep that TV watching area tidier. Can you put a TV in your craft room to watch? or a tablet? I’d like to invite you to join our Facebook group for organizing. There are lots of people in there with great advice to help … and you can share photos there too! I hope you’ll join us. Augh… I JUST bought a desk almost exactly like this from Ikea. But the top is a shorter version of the Linnamon and I would’ve preferred two Alex units. I didn’t realize I could do this configuration. Back to Ikea I go, I guess.
Hi!
What is the name of the chairs and the glass table. I am thinking they may not make them any longer. Also did the glass hold up well? I do scrapbooking so thought cleaning paint would be easier. Thank you!
Hello,
in the guide I name the table and chairs – you gotta sub to get the resource guide 🙂
Yes, paint would come off glass easily with glass cleaner or a razor blade.
Paint the bottom of the glass and it is far less likely to be scratched.
Can you tell me how long it takes to get the guide? I really want to purchase the desk + drawer combination shown.
Thank you!!
It should come right away – check your spam folder or promotions folder 🙂
I tried to used the Ikea Room Planner but it wouldn’t take my dimensions. Can you tell me exactly what you used to plan your room or possibly give me a link. I would really appreciate it!
Thanks!
I did not use the IKEA room planner for my room but I did use it to create the mockup I shared here. Contact their site for help if you can’t get the tool to work – it could be a glitch.
Wow–so many great ideas. I wish I had an IKEA near me so I could check out the As Is section.
Inspired to make my new craft room, thanks!
Can I not receive the shopping list bc this post is old? I’ve tried twice and have still not received it. I keep checking both my inbox and my junk folders.
It should be sent … check your trash folder please 🙂
Room #12…what is the name of the six drawer silver-ish cabinet?
Beautiful room! Where is the ceiling light fixture from? I would love the info! Thanks so much!
Thank you! I found it at Habitat for Humanity Restore – it did not have a brand listed.
I just spent several hours over the course of several days choosing the perfect items for my craft room, only to find that almost none of it is in stock in any store within 6 hours of me! And there are even fewer items available for delivery. Basically, I was just choosing Kallax shelves and Alex drawers. Any ideas?
IKEA has been hit hard with all the people buying cheap furniture for the kids to learn at home – you’ll just have ot keep trying or look for alternatives on Amazon, which I have linked in the post.
I like your post .
Its really amazing to read it .
Thank you so much for this
