When I think of a blended coffee drink, I think “yay!”. When I think of protein powder, well… I haven't had protein powder in a long time (the 1990's?!) and wow, have things changed for the better since then. Xaver has been using protein powder for a couple years now to help improve his health so when I saw the new EAS® Lean 15 Single Serve Packets, I thought they'd be great to try. We're both trying to get healthier, eating more vegetables, and trying to give up our morning coffee stops at that fancy coffee place with the green logo. Our mornings are rushed and our schedules don't match so having a hot, home-cooked breakfast is a real challenge. All of a sudden inspiration struck. Couldn't we combine the protein-packed power of protein powder with a coffee drink for an awesome alternative to fancy blended coffees as a nuritious way to start our day with some protein? That's how the Coconut Coffee Frappé Protein Shake was born. Seriously, this is the best coffee drink I've ever had and it's a bonus that's it packed with nutritious protein too!
Xaver is under Doctor's orders to use protein powder to ensure he is getting enough protein in his diet. He's been getting up at 5:00 am on weekdays to hit the gym and get back into shape. Getting up that early, he has just enough time to work out, shower, and then hit the road to go to work. Breakfast has been a challenge and in trying to get healthier, fast food breakfasts are not an option. A protein shake is a smarter alternative to a fast food breakfast and it helps Xaver reach his target for protein consumption each day. EAS® is a protein supplement that can be added to an already-healthy lifestyle, like what we're doing with our workouts and healthy diet.
We picked up both the EAS® 100% Whey Single Serving Packets and EAS® Lean 15 Single Serve Packets at our local Target. The protein powders are located near the Pharmacy, with the other supplements and health foods. Since there are Target stores close to Xaver's office and our home, it's easy to stop in and pick up a box of EAS Protein Powder Packets any time.
After working out at the gym, Xaver can combine one of the EAS® Lean 15 Single Serve Packets in Vanilla Cream with instant coffee, a sliced banana, and coconut water into a shaker cup, shake it up, and then drink this as an on-the-go protein shake.
This coffee frappé is a great way to stay cool after a hot workout and jump start the morning with a little coffee kick! Plus it's incredibly delicious. Like “tastes like a milk shake” delicious!
Soccer season has just started again here and both of our kids have weeknight practices. Xaver has always coached or assisted and this means that three to four nights a week, we eat dinner after 7:00 pm. He can keep a shaker cup and a couple EAS® Lean 15 Single Serve Packets in our soccer bag so that he can make a shake to enjoy during or right after practice to pull him through until he can get home for dinner.
The EAS® Lean 15 Single Serve Packets can be mixed with water or you can carry small boxes of coconut water and instant coffee packs to make a tropical coffee drink like our Coconut Coffee Frappé Protein Shake. The new Protein Powder Packets are perfect for on-the-go incorporation of protein any time of day!
At home, we'll make the Coconut Coffee Frappé Protein Shake in the blender and pour it over ice for a delicious sweet treat. You can also blend the ice into the drink to make it have a creamier consistency. Here's the recipe:
