How to Tie a Bow Like a Disney Princess Cinderella

The movie Cinderella opens today! As more movie trailers aired, I was excited to create a few projects inspired by the classic animated version of Cinderella as well as the upcoming version. Here's one of the Cinderella trailers I found especially inspiring:

I created this faux pillow top hat box inspired by Cinderella, with a pretty bow fit for a Princess.

This box was on clearance from Hobby Lobby and I started by painting the entire base with this pretty pink acrylic paint. Then I set to doing the decorative faux pillow top – it's incredible easy and a fun effect on any project:

Tying bows can be challenging but I have never had a problem tying a simple ribbon bow. But tying a double or triple bow fit for a Princess … well, that is another story! I recently received a Embellishment Attic™ Bow Maker by bowperfection.com from the folks at Create and Craft while I was at CHA. I watched their tutorial video on YouTube and got started making a bow.

The bow on this box is my very first one that I made with the bow maker!

Check out this video I made showing how to paint the box and how to tie a bow like a Princess:

Isn't that awesome? I love it when a tool is compact, simple, and makes thing easy.

In the video I also used a new tool I received from Stick With It®. Originally designed as an organizer for makeup, office supplies, and more, it was soon obvious that Stick With It would be used for makeup application, nail art, and crafts. When the owner told me that the Stick With It can be used as a palette for paint and glue and can be cleaned easy, I was naturally skeptical. But as you can see in my video, I tried it and it worked! I'll be sharing more about Stick With It next week so be sure to follow me on Facebook and Instagram to see when I post about it!

I hope you enjoyed this faux painting project and tutorial on the Embellishment Attic Bow Maker. My friend Aprile sure enjoyed receiving this box as a gift at our Disney Villains Tea Party!

  5. Cannot believe you painted that grid free hand-I couldn’t have done that good when I was young. The hole in the middle to pull the ribbon through makes all the difference-genius! Kudos to the person who designed this tool.
