We got a sneak peek at the action when we went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks: Live on Stage! at the Grove in Anaheim, CA last week.
The live show is a sneak peek into the Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip Movie. The show is a lively good time with special effects, on-stage actors, singing, dancing, and more. The show is family-friendly just like the movie franchise, starring some of your favorite actors like Jason Lee, Tony Hale, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Josh Green, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Anna Faris, and Christina Applegate.
Directed by Walt Becker, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip is about Alvin, Simon and Theodore's efforts to stop Dave from proposing to his girlfriend. Through a series of misunderstandings, the Chipmunks think Dave is going to propose to his new girlfriend in Miami…and dump them. They have three days to get to him and stop the proposal, saving themselves not only from losing Dave but possibly from gaining a terrible stepbrother.
The movie is written by Randi Mayem and Adam Sztykiel, based on characters Alvin and The Chipmunks created by Ross Bagdasarian and The Chipettes created by Janice Karman. Watch the clip above to see more!
The live show is alot like the movie – silly, fun, a little cheesy … something the whole family can enjoy! The story is easy enough for the kids to follow and I like the problem solving aspects in both the live show and the Alvin movies.
Matthew had a blast at the show! The scenes were all really well planned out with lots of special effects like tissue pieces falling from the ceiling like snow and lots of fun props and lighting.
During the Live show, we spotted Red Foo, of LMFAO, who also has songs featured in the live show and the upcoming film. He's also IN the film as you can see in the movie trailer. So that was pretty cool. The Chipmunks played popular songs during the show, much like the songs they play in the upcoming movie. The kids all really loved singing and dancing along with the Chipmunks!
Be sure to check out Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip Movie on opening day, December 23, 2015! Are you going to take your family? Let me know in the comments section…

This looks like so much fun! My 5 year old has imaginary chipmunks – and I bet he’d love to see this movie.
